Last Class Project for GD2

For our last project we had to do a PSA series ( public service announcements ). I decided to go humourus for this one and go with a Star Wars theme...

First up... Safe Sex with Darth Vader

Second one I did was for spaying and neutering your pets ( pretty much same as safe sex but for pets), with everyone's favorite ( sarcasm inserted here), EWOKS!

Typographical Illustration for GD2

For my latest and greatest GD2 project I had to do a typographical illustration to go along with my magazine cover and spread on a "how to" about typographical illustration. I chose the subject of The Doctor ( as played by Matt Smith ), here's my result....

latest GD2 project

Latest GD2 project is a cover and 2 page spread for HOW magazine. This would encompass a tutorial on a graphic design technique in which we would design the cover and spread to work with that tutorial.

Im doing "Typographical Illustrations" , so my cover uses that technique. This is a screenshot of what I have so far.

Travel Brochure...final design...

Fingers crossed this is my final design for my travel brochure. I really like how it turned out, though Im sure if this was something I had a lot more time to do, I could of made it a lot more informative and tighter design wise. Not that I don't think its a great design, but great design takes time.. more time that a class schedule can allow.

Ok worked all night and am now almost done with my travel brochure project. This one has been lots of fun to do and challenging... just how I like it  :)
Anyway it's late so here it is...

GD2 Travel Brochure Project

Our newest project in GD2 is for a Travel Brochure. I chose Australia as my destination and am striving to make it a well design brochure, but also one thats more modern and cutting edge. I looked at many examples of travel brochures and found out that most of them have one very important thing in common.. THEY SUCKED! lol

Here's what I have so far... cover ( not completely done yet ) and the first inside spread ( still a work in progress but close to done )

Graphic Design 2 - 3rd project - Menu

For our third project we had to do a mock menu. Could be a real or made up restaurant, so I went with made up... Chuck's Cheeseburger Shack!  =)

Graphic Design Class- Project 2

For our second project we are doing a Typography exercise, taking a block of text and putting it in a two page spread in an eye pleasing fashion.

Wonder woman sketch

I decided to do some doodling/sketching today. As usual I leaned towards my old standby... Superheroes. Here's a quick sketch I drew of wonder woman. I think it came out rather well for a sketch.

Also finished my blog design. Maybe a couple tweaks will be needed but it's 95% done. Woot!

Work in progress...

If you are visiting my new design blog, be aware it is still a work in progress. Ive finally settled not only on a name ( potential freelance design company name ) and logo, but also color palette and general blog design.

I don't know much about CSS or coding so it is taking me awhile to go thru and figure out how to change things here and there.

Graphic Design 2 - first project

For our first project in Graphic Design 2 we were assigned to do an homage to a famous designer or typographer. I chose Neville Brody as he embodies much of what draws me to art and design.

He likes to break boundaries and rules, create his own typefaces and fonts, essentially he breaks the rules to make things more awesome!
